During our first year, we had many interesting guest lecturers.

Dr. Rob Davidson - Changing trends in conference venue design.

He was our very first guest lecturer. He told us about Mice Knowledge and MPI. He teaches us about event management, conference venues, what makes a venue great, and how we millennials have changed the whole venue scene. To me, it was a very motivating and interesting lecture, because I have been thinking to work in event management in the future. I liked his way of presenting and it made me want to try event management.

Isa Karlsson - Trainer, career coach & image professional.

She told us about the importance of networking and her own experiences in events. The most important tip she gave us is always read the news before events. She also teaches us how to be confident and how to carry ourselves.

She also reminded us that we won’t probably remember any of this after a couple of weeks.

Miia Vilppula - Aventura (tour operator)

She told us about her own experiences in work and studying. She also told us about what they do in Aventura and about their history.

Bodil Mickels - Arranging big conferences - planning, and tasks

She teaches us how to organize a big conference. What you need to know about your clients and venue and how much work it takes to arrange a big conference. She also recruits us to an event here in Porvoo. I am very interested in applying for a job there.

Pipsa Kyöstiö - TUI Versatile career opportunities for tourism

She had been in many different jobs from being an entrepreneur to guiding. Now she is working as a guide for TUI. She also teaches us that age does not matter in studying and at work. Everything is going to be alright in the end.

Marjut Heinonen - Internship in Raya Divers

She shared with us her experiences during her internship at Raya Divers in Thailand. She also shared her experiences while in exchange and answered our questions regarding the internship and student exchange.
